The gridiron Blackhawks ended their season on a high note, doubling their victory total from a year ago with their second win of the 2009 season, a 30-12 thumping of Berryville.

Youngest ’Hawks end season

Saturday, Oct. 24, the second- and third-grade football season came to an end. In the first game, the Black team played the Gray team with the Black team winning. In the second game, White faced the Red team with the White team taking the victory. The White ’Hawks also defeated a Bentonville team earlier this year to have a record of 7-0.

If you have been watching or reading the news lately, you may have read of the newspaper war between the folks who run the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and their associated papers, and those who operated the Morning News in those various cities. Those papers are now merged with now just one paper in each of the larger cities in northwest Arkansas.

Eagles outbattled junior ’Hawks for second

The battle for second place in the 4A-1 Junior Conference was just that, as the visiting Huntsville Eagles just outbattled the Junior Blackhawks to win a hard fought 6-0 victory.
