PEA RIDGE — Paramedics respectfully pulled the white sheet over Shala Allcorn, 20, of Pea Ridge at 11:54 a.m.

Sunday, Nov. 1.

No one saw when a black Honda Accord, driven by Jeremy Stacy, 25, of Pea Ridge, crossed the double yellow center line on Arkansas Highway 72, a few yards west of It’ll Do Road. Stacy, traveling east, collided head on with Allcorn’s westbound red Ford Focus.

Residents of nearby houses heard the sound - what they described as a shot gun - then rushed to find the cars smoking and piled together in a twisted, mangled heap in the road. Pieces of broken glass and plastic littered the area. Fluid from the vehicles - oil, gasoline and transmission fluid - stained the black asphalt.

Allcorn was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stacy was airlifted to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville and pronounced dead shortly after.

Keith English, a resident of a nearby house, said this road is the most dangerous road in the area.

He said he has only lived there for six months and already seen a handful of wrecks.

“What if my kids were out there playing? What if one of those cars hit my kid?” he said.

State Trooper Cpl. J. Cordes investigated the accident. Stacy was not wearing his seat belt, according to the report.
